Richmond couple charged with beating police officers

CULPEPER, VA (WWBT) -

Two people from Richmond are in jail, accused of beating a police officer in Culpeper.

According to the Star-Exponent, 34-year-old Xavier Orellana and 37-year-old Chicas Chevez face several charges each including battery on a law enforcement officer.

The paper says the man was driving drunk and when deputies pulled him over, he tried to run away. When officers finally caught up with the couple, the two tried to escape by beating the officers.

One of the deputies had to be taken to the hospital. The two suspects are being held without bond.
