CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Two winners were announced for the Ohio's Oldest Fridge Contest sponsored by Duke Energy.

Duke Energy customers Patricia McMillan of Cleves and Thomas Kihm of Green Township will receive $250 for winning the competition that was held over the summer.

Other contestant received a $30 incentive to participate in the program.

McMillan's 1937 white Westinghouse refrigerator with a box freezer and Kihm's 1937 GE refrigerator will a small box freezer on top were selected out of 1,586 refrigerators and freezers collected throughout Duke Energy Ohio's service territory.

The contest was held to promote recycling old refrigerators and freezers because older models can use up to three times more energy to run than newer models built to higher energy standards.

McMillan and Kihm tied with two other state contestants from Columbus and Cleveland who owned 1930 GE freezers.

To participate in the program, Duke Energy customers can call 1-855-398-6200 or visit www.duke-energy.ccom/recycle.
