Elder holds groundbreaking for new baseball stadium

PRICE HILL (FOX19) - Elder High School introduced plans for a new baseball stadium to the Purple Nation on Saturday morning.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Saturday morning at the Butch Hubert Family Panther Athletic Complex.

The  is the final piece to the original Panther Athletic Complex plan.

The 500 seat state-of-the-art baseball stadium will include three seating sections, bathrooms and a press box. Construction is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2014 season opener.

"This is the final piece of the 2003 master plan. Elder represents Ohio's best – holding 12 state baseball titles. It's fitting that the Panthers finally have a first-class home," said Principal Tom Otten.

"The generosity of Mr. Adam, the Altiora committee, Elder's administration, and our alumni is really overwhelming, and will make this one of the premier high school baseball facilities in the Midwest! What will set this apart from other stadiums is the incorporation of the school's character into the design," said Mark Thompson, head baseball coach.

Elder High School is an Archdiocesan Catholic high school for boys located in Price Hill, a neighborhood in western Cincinnati.

Founded in 1922, the school's mission is to lead young men to serve God, others, and to pursue Altiora according to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
