(FOX19) -

A 21-year-old man is dead and two other have sustained life-threatening injuries after a semi truck crashed into two vehicles.

Police say the accident happened on northbound I-75 just north of I-74 near the 5.3 milepost.

Authorities say that Ashley Kelly, 22, was driving northbound on the highway when she lost control and struck the barrier. A second vehicle, driven by 21-year-old James Harrison, stopped to avoid colliding with Kelly's vehicle.

An oncoming semi truck was unable to stop in time. The semi, driven by 41-year-old Jason Woodyard, crashed into both vehicles.

Police say that Harrison was ejected from his vehicle following the collision. Harrison was transported to UC Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Harrison's passenger, 21-year-old Zachary Byrd, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers say that Kelly was also transported to the hospital following the collision. She is also believed to have life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation. The traffic unit is asking witnesses of the crash to contact the Cincinnati Police Department at 513-352-2514.
