What's left of Hurricane Jeanne is making its way through the Carolinas. Heavy rain, wind and tornadoes have been reported in both states -- and both states have also seen mobile homes damaged and trees uprooted North Carolina's governor has declared a state of emergency and has activated 300 state National Guard soldiers to help with storm response.
A forecaster in Raleigh says rain is expected to pick up overnight before the system moves out. Four tropical systems haven't come through South Carolina in one season since 1893.
Jeanne is projected to cross South Carolina's Piedmont region early today.
