KENTON COUNTY, KY (FOX19) -

Kenton County Police say that a police cruiser was involved in a head-on crash on Tuesday afternoon in Independence, Ky.

Police say that the accident occurred at the intersection of Cody and Independence Station Road around 4:15 p.m.

Authorities say that Officer Jacob L. Noe Jr. was heading westbound on Independence Station Road when his vehicle was struck by a 1999 Subaru.

The Subaru, driven by 20-year-old Michael Greenwood, was traveling eastbound on the road. Officers say that he was driving slightly left of center due to inattention. Police say the driver abruptly steered the vehicle causing it to enter the broadside lane.

Officers say that the Subaru entered the westbound lane and struck Nome's police cruiser.

Noe was transported to St. Elizabeth Edgewood with minor injuries.

Greenwood was treated and released at the scene.

Investigation later revealed that driver inattention and improper steering were the causes of the accident. Neither alcohol nor drugs were factors.
