CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - On day three of the open marketplace for the Affordable Care Act, users are reporting long waits and computer glitches.
FOX19 decided to put the system to the test ourselves to see what users are up against.
We started the clock and logged onto the website for the Affordable Care Act searching for health insurance options for Ohio residents. The process for those living in Indiana is the same.
Immediately a screen popped up stating, "We have a lot of visitors on the site now. Please stay on the page."
"Right now, we have been waiting about a minute just to get into it," said FOX19 reporter Amy Wagner.
Thirty minutes pass by. Still waiting.
At just over 51 minutes, the screen came up stating "Let's get started." It took nearly five minutes to load. We set up an account, but there was a glitch getting logged in.
"Hopefully, this will work this time," Wagner said after trying several times. It didn't, which would have required starting all over again.
"We're going to throw in the towel right here," Wagner said. It took one hour and eight minutes to get to the point of logging in.
We decided to try the 1-800 number listed on the website instead. Our producer, an Ohio resident, made the call.
Within seconds, she got through to a representative. She gave her name, address and phone number.
Eight minutes into the phone call, the representative told our producer she needed to get information about her health insurance options online. The representative added that if she experienced any issues, she should "keep trying."
The process is different in Kentucky, where the state has set up its own marketplace called kynect.
We were able to get through to Kentucky's marketplace for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act immediately, experiencing no delays or glitches.
