Two early morning robberies near VCU

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Richmond Police are investigating two robberies near the VCU campus.

The first robbery happened around 1:00 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of West Main Street, in the south alley. The victim in that case was hit in the face and robbed at gunpoint by three black males.

The second robbery occurred around 1:15 a.m. Sunday in the 000 block of South Morris Street. In this incident, two suspects robbed the victim at gunpoint, taking his cell phone and wallet.  The first suspect was quickly apprehended and a firearm was recovered.  The second suspect was last seen headed east on Park Avenue.  

VCU Police and Richmond Police are increasing patrols in the area.
