CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - City-wide changes take effect for Cincinnati residential and commercial trash pick up beginning Monday.
The new trash carts distributed to city residents are now required to be used, and the city will no longer pick up the old cans or loose bags.
Officials say the changes will allow for semi-automatic pick up. Workers will be able to roll the carts to the truck and hook them onto a life bar.
City officials say the change will help protect workers' health, improve cleanliness of neighborhoods and save taxpayer money by reducing worker injuries.
Most of the carts were distributed over the last few months, but anyone who has not received one can contact the city to have one delivered.
Cans still need to be on the curb by 6 a.m.
