BROWN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - A Brown County toddler who suffered a gunshot wound to the head last August returned to the hospital Monday for emergency surgery.
The family of Aubree Stykes posted a statement on the Stykes Family Fund Facebook page revealing the 16-month-old will undergo another surgery. They say the toddler has too much pressure building in her head which is causing fluid to leak from her incisions.
Aubree and her pregnant mother, 22-year-old Brittany Stykes, were found August 28 in a vehicle off the road between S.R. 125 and Laycock Road on US Rt. 68.
Brittany Stykes was pronounced dead at the scene. She was 17 weeks pregnant at the time.
Aubree was immediately taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital for treatment. She was released from the hospital and able to briefly return home. This emergency surgery will be her third, and family says a fourth surgery will have to follow.
No arrests have been made in the shooting. There is currently a $10,000 reward being offered for information in the case.
Anyone with information on the case should contact the Brown County Sheriff's Office Investigation Unit at (937) 378-4435 or Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
