Oregon parent receives suspicious phone call

OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Oregon school district is investigating a strange phone call that one parent says she received.

The parent says she received a phone call late Saturday night that made her uneasy, so she turned to Facebook to warn other parents. Her post has been shared more than 300 times so far.

The woman claims a private caller who said they were part of the school board asked her several personal questions about her children and where she worked. The following Monday, she contacted the school board and learned no one there had called her.

"It sounds like at this point it's probably a prank, but we have limited information to go off of," said Officer Mark Potter, a student resource officer for the district.

Parents in the district were notified of the call, and Potter says no police report was filed.

"It doesn't sound like it was anything real serious, but at this point, we're still gathering information," he said.

The parent says the phone call ended with the caller suggesting they set up a time to talk about her kids' grades. She said no true motive was suggested in the call, but it made her uncomfortable.
