2,000 LED balloons released for suicide prevention

2,000 Led Balloons were released into the night sky for the Walk to Prevent Suicide on Sunday, October 20.

The Cincinnati Out of the Darkness Community Walk is celebrating their 10th Annual Fundraising event to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

There are more than 200 Out of the Darkness Community Walks taking place throughout the U.S. this year.

Funds will support vital research, education, advocacy, suicide prevention initiatives and programs to support those impacted by suicide.

It is estimated that each year, nearly 1 million Americans attempt suicide, more than 34,000 die by suicide and more than 20 million suffer from depression.

Suicide is the third leading cause of death among teens and young adults and the second leading cause of death in college students.
