MINDEN, LA (KSLA) -

An Ark-La-Tex restaurant is asking for forgiveness after a receipt began circulating recently that featured a racially insensitive comment.

"Blacks in the corner" can be seen in the upper portion of the receipt next to the word "Table," as a description for waitstaff to keep track of where the customers were seated.

The receipt was reportedly given to someone at Habacu's Mexican restaurant in Minden Louisiana, a popular and iconic eatery whose name alone prompted praise from passersby on Tuesday. Most people talked about the food, while some mentioned the friendly staff. None wanted to comment about the receipt.

Management at the Habacu's confirms that they're aware of the receipt in question.

Restaurant owner Habacu Morales released a written statement Tuesday afternoon to KSLA News 12 in response to an inquiry about the receipt. "I would like to apologize for the offensive words used by a part-time employee. Habacu's is a minority owned and operated business. It would never be our intent to offend anyone by the use of any words that could be a racial slur. The employee in question is no longer with the restaurant. Again, we extend our apologies to anyone who was offended."

An employee of the restaurant described the receipt as an unfortunate oversight, and said employees weren't even aware that the computer system they use was capable of naming the tables.
