WARREN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

The new racino in Warren County opened its doors on Tuesday for a firsthand look at the $175 million gaming facility.

The facility isn't open to the public yet, though. That happens December 12th of this year.  But, it's economic impact is already being felt around the area, even though not a single bet has been placed yet.

But when they do start taking bets, they're expected to generate $125 million in revenue in the first year, and with that, officials are expecting a big impact on local economy.

"We're anticipating over $20 million in terms of economic spin between taxes, payroll taxes and various donations. It's a great economic project," said Jim Simms with Miami Valley Gaming.

That money means big things for area businesses. In fact, a Best Western hotel that sits less than a mile from the gaming facility is already feeling the impact from more than 1,000 construction workers that have been on the job.

"We've been seeing workers coming in here since the last 6 months, and they are filling up some rooms," said Kuldip Parikh, one of the owners of that hotel.

County officials expect the boom to continue once the racino is open. They expect more construction, and more visitors brining their dollars to the area.

"Tourism is our largest industry. It is what has helped allow Warren County to remain financially stable," said Pat South, a Warren County Commissioner.

This new gaming facility is just one of many gambling options in the Tri-State with other places throughout Ohio and Indiana. Can this one stand up against them?

"We think, with our economic studies, there's enough right now in the market that we'll be able to compete effectively," Simms added.

So far, more than 500 full- and part-time jobs have been filled at the racino. Officials are still looking to add even more workers to their staff.
