Injured hiker rescued on Phoenix mountainside

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

First responders rescued a hiker injured on a mountain near 24th Street and Northern Avenue late Wednesday afternoon.

The 31-year-old man suffered a lower leg injury, possibly a fracture, said Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Jonathan Jacobs.

News helicopter images showed a team of nine rescuers on the ground carrying the hiker on a stretcher down steep and rocky terrain.

No other information was immediately available.
