CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - More than 2,000 walkers and runners pounded the pavement of downtown Cincinnati to raise money for brain tumor research.
Beginning and ending at Yeatman's Cove in Sawyer Point, the fourth annual Walk Ahead for a Brain Tumor Cure was held on Sunday morning.
Prior to the event, the 2013 Walk Ahead raised more than $145,000 for education and research at the Brain Tumor Center at the University of Cincinnati Neuroscience Institute, bringing the organization's total to more than $637,000.
An estimated 215,000 brain tumors are diagnosed in the United States each year. Of these, 45,000 have originated in the brain and 170,000 have metastasized from other parts of the body.
