HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - A man suspected of robbing a convenience store in Hamilton has been arrested after a patron of the store followed the suspect on bicycle after the robbery.
Officers were called to the United Dairy Farmers, located on the corner of Main Street and Brookwood Avenue on Saturday night.
The clerk of the store told officers that a man, identified as 27-year-old Robert Laboiteaux, entered the store and handed her a note demanding money. Officers say that the note indicated that no one would get hurt if the clerk complied with the suspect's demands.
Officers say that the clerk complied with the Laboiteaux's requests and he fled the scene.
As Laboiteaux fled the scene, authorities say that a patron of the business followed Laboiteaux on a bicycle. The patron followed the suspect to an apartment located on Victory Drive.
Officers arriving on the scene made contact with a woman in the apartment who granted the, access to the residence.
Police say that Laboiteaux was located in the bathroom as he attempted to flush the stolen cash down the toilet.
Detectives have charged Laboiteaux with robbery and tampering with evidence. Laboiteaux is being held on a $75,000 bond.
