Readers of Consumer Reports are letting us all know what their experiences have been with millions of cars. But American brand names are not at the top of the list.
Lexus does well in the upscale category.
The most reliable midsized car is the Subaru Legacy, while Subaru's Forrester tops the small SUV list.
And the Honda Fit is the best subcompact, according to the magazine's readers.
Ford did not do well in the survey, though. It's been plagued with problems with its "My Ford Touch" system, a touch screen device that is supposed to serve as the hub of the car's communications, GPS, and entertainment systems. However, drivers are complaining about frozen screens and touch controls lagging.
It's important to note that this list isn't necessarily a recommendation from Consumer Reports. It's just passing along what its readers are saying.
