(RNN) – Hey everyone, come and see how one local sports anchor won Halloween by taking a fake news legend, turning it into viral video gold.
Don't act like you're not impressed by Boise, ID, news affiliate KIVI and KNIN's sports director Paul Gerke as legendary anchorman Ron Burgundy. Gerke portrayed the fictitious newsman on the station's primetime broadcasts for Halloween on Thursday night.
In his local news portrayal of the stylish, sophisticated, jazz flute playing news legend, Gerke dropped a few quotes from 2004's Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and the internet is not even mad, he was amazing as the Will Ferrell character.
If Gerke ever wants to take his act on the road and audition for ESPN's Sportscenter, he would probably fair better than the person he emulated.
Gerke was back to work covering the news sports as himself Friday. His coworkers applauded his portrayal and celebrated his 15 minutes of fame. They should give him a glass of scotch. Scotchy, scotch-scotch.
