(FOX19) - Hundreds of volunteers gathered along the Great Miami River on Saturday to rid the banks of trash.
The Great Miami River Cleanup is a volunteer event focused on removing trash and restoring the health of the Great Miami River. This cleanup is an annual event coordinated by many partners and held in November in the lower region of the river and in July in the upper reaches.
Locations were set up across Butler and Hamilton counties on Saturday to restore health to the 170 mile river.
Last year's southern section cleanup cleared more than 13.88 tons of trash, with 3.97 tons of tires.
