HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

An update to a story we reported on earlier on our web site, the missing boy from Henrico's Highland Springs area has been found.

The mother of 12-year-old Joshua Hagins said her son was found behind a Food Lion at a nearby apartment complex. The family was canvassing the neighborhood this evening when Hagins was found.

"Something has happened to him because he would not not come back, that's not like Joshua, he has never done this before."

Denise Hagins fought back tears Saturday afternoon as she begged for her son's safe return. She says he was last seen Friday.

"Josh said he was going to a friends house so he left and went walking up towards the direction of 9 mile road and that was the last time anyone has heard or seen him," Hagins said.

The family and Henrico police searched throughout the neighborhood today hoping to find the missing 12 year-old but had no success.

Denise reached out to NBC 12 we quickly sent out an alert about Joshua's disappearance on social media. The post was shared by over 160 people.

By night-fall the family took to the streets with Joshua's friends. That's when his mother got a startling call. A woman at home just a few streets over said they had Joshua.

Quickly the family raced to the home we followed. The call leads to a dead end no Joshua. just when it seemed all was lost a captain with the Henrico Police shows up and said Joshua had been found behind a nearby grocery store.

"I know its been an emotional day for you but really quickly tell us how you feel. Denise: The way I feel, its because of you guys you all are the ones that really did it because if I had not reached out to you all didn't care about someone he would not be home right now," Hagis said.

Police say they were able to locate Joshua by showing his picture to people in the area near his home.
