CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - When you have a baby, you dream of saving enough money to send her off to college one day. Little do new parents know, the cost of daycare can be just as much.
The worst state is Massachusetts where fulltime care for an infant can run $16,500 a year, according to a new report from ChildCare Aware of America.
In Ohio, the cost is about half that: $8,482. But that's still nearly the cost of a full year's tuition at the University of Cincinnati's main campus: $10,784.
If you need help paying for childcare, you may qualify for a subsidy if you meet certain income guidelines. In Cincinnati, contact Hamilton County Job & Family Services. If you live in Kentucky, you'll want to contact the Child Care Council of Kentucky. And in Indiana, childcare subsidies are handled by the Child Care & Development Fund.
