CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Election Day brought a few surprises to the Greater Cincinnati area.
Cincinnati elected a new mayor. Attorney John Cranley was elected the 69th Mayor of Cincinnati in a 58% to 42% race against Roxanne Qualls.
Some other issues on Tuesday's ballot:
Issue 1 Levy – Passed by a wide margin of 80/20. Voters approved The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County's request for a renewal levy which will raise money for staffing, maintenance and operating costs over the next 10 years. It will continue to cost the owner of a $100,000 home $2.51 per month. The levy provides approximately $17.5 million per year in funding, serving as its only local support.
Several school districts asked voters for additional funding through bonds and levies but only two succeed.
3 new members were added to Cincinnati's City Council. The new additions are David Mann (D), Kevin Flynn (I), and Amy Murray (R). 2 incumbents, Laure Quinlivan and Pamela Thomas were not re-elected.
