12 new officers participate in MPD graduation ceremony

Twelve new police officers join the MPD. Twelve new police officers join the MPD.
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Police Department is welcoming a dozen new graduates into the police force. A graduation ceremony was held Thursday morning for the Montgomery Police Academy Class 2013-B.

Retired Air Force Command Chief Master Sergeant Brye McMillion delivered the graduation address and Montgomery Presiding Judge Les Hayes administered the oath of office to the class.

Police Chief Kevin J. Murphy and Public Safety Director J. Christopher Murphy also addressed the new police officers.

Class members have successfully completed 20 weeks of training at the Montgomery Police Academy. After being sworn in, the new officers began their first assignments in the MPD Patrol Division.
