HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - A 72-year-old woman will serve 15 years to life in prison for the stabbing death of another woman this past summer.
Delores Jackson, of Hamilton, was found guilty on one count of murder and one count of tampering with evidence in the death of 56-year-old Diana Ross-Ray on June 14.
Officers were dispatched to a home in the 500 block of Monument Street around 11 p.m. for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, they found Ross-Ray unresponsive and suffering from a puncture wound.
Investigators said Jackson allegedly stabbed the woman with a knife in the upper-torso. Ross-Ray was transported to Ft. Hamilton Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
"It's unusual to have a 72-year-old defendant wielding a knife in a squabble with a neighbor," said Prosecutor Mike Gmoser.
Jackson's trial began Monday in Butler County court. The case went to the jury on Thursday afternoon, who returned the verdict around 8:30 p.m. She was sentenced shortly after by Judge Spaeth shortly after.
