FRANKLIN, OH (FOX19) - A Vandalia, Ohio man was sentenced to six months in prison for hitting an Ohio State Trooper on the side of the highway in Franklin.
Trooper Brent Hill, 26, was at the scene of a single vehicle crash Feb. 27 on I-75 north, just south of the SR 123 exit.
While investigating the crash, a 1996 Buick Riviera driven by Andrew T. Combs, 22, went off the left side of the roadway, sideswiped the patrol car and struck Hill as well as the vehicle involved in the first crash.
According to police, Combs was speeding and lost control on the snowy roadway.
Hill was taken to the hospital in critical condition and has since been in recovery. He graduated from the trooper academy just three weeks prior to the accident.
