OVER THE RHINE, OH (FOX19) - It's a landmark weekend for Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
Not only is it the official start to new Music Director Louis Langrée's tenure, but famous author and poet Dr. Maya Angelou will be joining in performances on Friday and Saturday.
Dr. Angelou rehearsed Friday morning with CSO in preparations for her role as narrator in 'Lincoln Portrait', an orchestral work that celebrates Abraham Lincoln with narrated excerpts from his most famous speeches.
It was over 70 years ago that the symphony first premiered 'Lincoln Portrait' at Music Hall, and it is coming back to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg address.
Before the shows, Dr. Angelou will be leading a free talk with ticket holders. Click here for more information on the show and tickets.
