Miami University says failed to notify sex-crime victim
Miami University's administration says it failed to notify a former student who was sexually assaulted on campus last year when her attacker would be allowed back on campus.
The attacker, 25-year-old Jason Landis of Troy, is now facing a felony charge in Oxford alleging that he raped another woman last week. Miami University spokesman Richard Little says the university could face financial penalties from the federal government for failing to notify the 20-year-old woman whom Landis was convicted of sexually attacking in her dorm room last year.
Little said Miami will apologize to the woman and check its records to determine whether it has made similar mistakes before.
