Facebook video shows teen beating

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A disturbing video of a teen being jumped on a south Jackson home surfaced on Facebook this week. Now the family of the victim say more needs to be done, claiming an adult orchestrated the attack.

This video shows the attack on 14 year old Shannon Maxwell, who says she was invited to a birthday party at a friends house, when her relatives jumped on her.

"They were kicking me all in the back they had my neck grabbing me by my hair and stuff," said Maxwell.

What's worse, Shannon's family says the parent of the home is in the video, egging on the attacker.

Shannon says as she tried to leave the home, she had a gun pulled on her.

"She gave her the gun to pull on me," said Maxwell. "They were like don't shoot her but hit her with it."

Tina Maxwell, Shannon's aunt says,

"What really bothers me that a mother can sit there and offer her child five dollars to fight another child, watch that child also pull a gun on that child," said Tina Maxwell, Shannon's aunt.

Jackson police declined to comment on camera, but did say they are investigating the incident, and assault charges are pending.
