Police ID man killed in Ryland Heights accident

RYLAND HEIGHTS, KY (FOX19) - Police say that one man is dead following a single car accident in Ryland Heights.

Officers say the accident happened around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon on Decoursey Pike near Ryland Lakes Drive.

Police say that the driver, identified as 30-year-old Arthur Matlock, swerved off the road to avoid slamming into a line of cars. Authorities say that traffic was stopped due to construction in the area.

Matlock's vehicle traveled off the road and struck a tree.

Matlock, who police say was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger, identified as 24-year-old Andrew Martin, was transported to UC Medical Center. His condition is unknown at the time.
