Salvation Army kicks off Red Kettle campaign

Posted: Updated:

The Salvation Army kicked off their Red Kettle Campaign on Friday at Eastland Mall.

The kettle collection is a 120-year-old tradition for the Salvation Army. The organization has a lofty goal of raising $250,000 for the community this year.

"It's a difficult goal to reach," said Major David Minks. "We will be working very hard to meet it. A lot depends on it."

There will be 30 collection points around Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties.

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for at least two hours of bell ringing.
