Tips to stay healthy through the holidays


It's easy to over indulge in holiday treats and become too busy to make it to the gym this time of year. The holiday season can wreak havoc on a healthy lifestyle which could lead to a higher risk of catching a cold or the flu.

Dr. Derek van Amerongen and Humana say that the simplest actions go a long way in staying healthy. Here are their tips to keep your immune system boosted in to the new year.

  • Keep hand sanitizer around the house, at work and at school.
  • Cover your mouth when you sneeze.
  • Eat fruits and vegetables at every meal.
  • Remain active.
  • Use a pedometer to track your steps.
