West Chester hosts annual parade and tree lighting

WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - West Chester Township's annual parade and tree lighting will kick off the holiday season tonight.

The parade is held in conjunction with the Olde West Chester Christmas Walk, sponsored by the Merchants of Olde West Chester. The event features live entertainment, crafts, activities and shopping for those looking to get their holiday shopping completed early.

The theme of the parade this year, "Fire Up the Christmas Spirit," is focused on celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the West Chester Fire Department and thanking them for their many years of service. The Grand Marshal of this year's parade will be Lawrence Cox, one of the Township's first firefighters.

The annual night time parade will begin at Union Day School at 7 p.m. and will work its way down Cincinnati-Dayton Road toward the Township Administration building, where the community tree will be illuminated directly following the parade around 8 p.m. All interested participants are invited to join in the parade.
