Severe weather leaves thousands in the dark

More than 4,000 homes suffered from power outages at the peak of the Sunday evening's severe weather and more than 1,000 customers were still without power Monday morning.

The outage numbers are dropping as crews have begun making repairs. The hardest hit counties were Clermont, Butler, Kenton and Campbell.

Damage to the power delivery system includes downed lines, power poles and numerous trees down across the service territory. A Duke Energy worker was burned early Monday while repairing downed power lines in Covington.
