CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

#GivingTuesday, a national day of giving to kick off the holiday season, is December 3, 2013.

A group of charities and corporate sponsors are asking Americans nationwide to make the Tuesday after Thanksgiving just as powerful and well-known as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Here in Cincinnati, Bengals players and Q102 will join Lighthouse Youth Services (LYS) at Fountain Square for 'Share on the Square'.

They'll be accepting gifts from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Lighthouse's annual holiday drive, which provides gifts for more than 2,000 local children, teenagers and young adults in need.

LYS is the largest provider of foster care in Hamilton County. It operates 19 programs total, including a charter school. Officials say young people in LYS care have often been abused and neglected with no real place to call home.

Greater Cincinnati residents are asked to purchase gifts, gift cards and basic necessities from the Lighthouse Top 10 Wish List to help local youth in need. Items on the wish list include basic necessities, such as gloves, scarves, sweatshirts, personal care and household items.
