Ex-Falcon LB dies in crash

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Ex-Atlanta Falcon Thomas Howard was killed in a car crash Monday in California, according to California Highway Patrol.

Howard was a linebacker who played two games for the Falcons.  He was cut last week to make room for Sean Weatherspoon's return from the injured reserve list.

A former second round pick out of UTEP, Howard was a starter in his first four years in the league.  He played five seasons for the Raiders and two with Cincinnati before the brief stint with the Falcons.

Howard was 30 years old.
