SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

"I had a perfectly normal three-year-old now boy in July of 2012 and now I have a super hero," Derrick Pullen said.

Imagine being a parent and your son complains of a tummy ache. That's when everything changed for the Pullen family.

"Marshall went from being a perfectly healthy three-year-old to a very sick little boy," Stephanie Pullen said.

What started as a precaution and a trip to the hospital, turned into news the Pullen family never thought of. They were told by doctors that their son was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor.

"I think about it like of 30 states a year," Stephanie Pullen said. "That's not even one per state in the United States and our son was diagnosed with that tumor."

"As a dad, I want to be here," Derrick Pullen said. "I want to be in this bed. I want to be the one struggling to talk, struggling to eat, having to have all my foods pureed but to be all to go through that and still smile bigger than anybody, that's what makes him a hero."

Marshall has touched a lot of people on his journey. His Facebook page highlights that with more than 44,000 likes and growing every day.

"There are people from all over the country all over the world that follow him on Facebook and they have a genuine interest in him," Stephanie Pullen said.

"You would never expect him to touch that many people at the age of three, but that's exactly what he's done," Derrick Pullen said.

Now, this super hero is trying to get enough strength to walk again on his own and if the doctors say it's not going to happen, we know Marshall will try and prove them wrong.
