APPLE DAPPLE CINNAMON FRENCH TOAST

APPLE DAPPLE CINNAMON FRENCH TOAST

 

4 tablespoons butter or margarine

2 large Ohio apples, peeled, cored and sliced

3/4 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons light corn syrup

1 tablespoon cinnamon

8 slices ( 1-inch thick) of French bread

1 1/2 cups milk

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

 

Melt butter in skillet, add the apple slices and sauté, stirring occasionally until tender.

 

Add the brown sugar, corn syrup and cinnamon to apples; cook until the brown sugar has dissolved.

 

Pour the apple mixture into a 2 quart baking dish, spreading evenly.  Arrange the bread slices on top.  In a small bowl, beat the milk, eggs and vanilla together.  Pour over the bread slices and refrigerate overnight.

 

Bake in a 375-degree oven for 25-30 minutes.  Serve with warm maple syrup.
