Fountain Square ice rink opens Friday

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Macy's Christmas Tree may have arrived a week late, but the US Bank Ice Rink is set to open a week early!

Fountain Square's Ice Rink officially opens to the public Friday at 5 p.m.

Once open, the rink operates seven days a week, including holidays. US Bank Ice Rink amenities include skate rental, storage lockers, and concessions.

The US Bank Ice Rink is open to skaters of all ages. Admission and skate rentals are $3 each. Fountain Square stocks rental skates in youth sizes 8-4, women's sizes 5-13 and men's sizes 5-13. Skates are rented on a first come, first served basis.

In addition, the rink now offers adult traction aids for those who do not wish to skate and adjustable, dual blade skates that strap on to the shoes of young skaters. Patrons are also welcome to bring their own ice skates.

The square will also host many winter-themed events throughout the season. The square is currently taking registration forms for 2014 HGC Broomball League.
