All lanes open after garbage truck falls off towing wrecker on I-275

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - All lanes have been re-opened following an accident on I-275 near the Five Mile Road exit.

The right two lanes were temporarily closed following an incident involving a truck towing a garbage truck just after 2 p.m. on Monday.

Officers say that a heavy duty wrecker was towing a McNeilus Packer Body from a former Rumpke trash truck marked for scrap. The wrecker, driven by 59-year-old Robert Oetzel, was traveling east while the accident occurred.

Authorities say that the vehicle being towed began to sway, causing it to become unsecured from the wrecker. Officers say that the old garbage truck traveled off the right side of the highway, striking a guardrail

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Hamilton County Sheriff's Department were on the scene for several hours as crews cleared the highway.

No one was injured in the accident.

Police say that drugs and alcohol were not factors. Charges have not been filed against Oetzel.

The accident is currently under investigation.
