5 displaced following Hamilton house fire

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - A family of five has been displaced after a fire damaged a home in Hamilton, Ohio.

Fire crews say that the blaze broke out around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in the 800 block of Ludlow Avenue.

Crews arriving on the scene found flames coming from the rear of the two-story house. Firefighters say the fire was contained to the kitchen and laundry room of the house.

Authorities say that five people were displaced in the blaze. Three people were home at the time, a mother and her two children.

"The mother stated that she had just left the house, walked down the street for a little bit and came home - no more than two or three minutes - and that's when she found her house on fire," says Deputy Chief Troy Pugh.

All were able to get out of the home safely. The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced.

Authorities say that the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
