CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The day after Thanksgiving, known as Black Friday, is considered the biggest shopping day of the year, but this year the buying season is starting earlier.
More than a dozen major retailers opened their doors on Thanksgiving night to give consumers a jump-start on their shopping.
People across the Tri-state were out as early as 5 p.m. waiting for stores to open. Many retailers are opening even earlier than they were last year, saying they feel the need to do so to stay competitive. Stores also had extra staff on hand to help with the high volume turnout.
140 million people are expected to take part in Black Friday this year.
