Plenty of holiday events Downtown this weekend

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Fountain Square's Christmas tree lighting ceremony is at 6 p.m. this evening downtown.

Festivities include live music, food, ice skating and fireworks.

Also happening downtown this weekend:

Free weekend carriage rides at Macy's Celebration station are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Horse-drawn trolley carriage rides through the heart of the city, courtesy of Macy's. The rides board at the corner of Fifth and Race streets from noon to 5 p.m. Also the rides are Dec. 7-8, Dec. 14-15 and Dec. 21-22.

Metro's Holly Jolly Downtown Trolley operates at Fourth, Fifth, Pike and Elm streets.  Ride the trolley and see all the downtown sights from noon-5 p.m. courtesy of Procter & Gamble. The trolley starts today and operates on Saturdays until Dec. 21.

Macy's Downtown Dazzle

Saturdays, Nov. 30, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14, 6:30 p.m. at Fountain Square

Free.  Each Saturday Santa rappels down the 525 Vine Building to the Macy's rooftop to kick off a fireworks display. This 20-minute family-friendly program also features performance from local choirs at 5:45 p.m. Then, head in to Macy's Fountain Place to warm-up and enjoy story time with Mrs. Claus and other activities

Holiday Junction featuring the Duke Energy Holiday Trains is open now through Jan. 5 off of the Public Landing of the Cincinnati History Museum at Union Terminal.

Hours:

  • Monday – Friday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Special hours:

Today:  10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

  • Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Dec. 25, Christmas Day, closed
  • Dec. 26-27: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

  • Dec. 29: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Dec. 30-Jan. 1: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Admission is free to Museum Center Members and to Duke Energy customers with a special confirmation code. Click here to get your code.

The last day for free exhibit entry with your Duke Energy confirmation code is Dec. 24.

The exhibit is also open to the public from Dec. 26 through Jan. 5, but only Museum Center Members can enter for free.

Admission to all three is museums is $12.50 for adults and $8.50 for children. Entry to the Cincinnati History Museum is $8.50 for adults and $6.50 for children and includes free entry to Holiday Junction featuring the Duke Energy Holiday Trains. Click here to buy tickets.

The 2013 Krohn Conservatory annual holiday show runs through Jan. 5.

This year's theme "A Cincinnati Scenic Railway" is bigger with new Cincinnati landmarks––the Tyler Davidson Fountain, riverboat replica and the Moerlein Lager House–– included within the bridges and trains display in the main exhibit room.

The display also includes the traditional poinsettia display, the Live Western & Southern Crib of Nativity and special events planned throughout the run of the show.

Admission is $7 for adults, youth (5-12) are $4. Children 4 and under are free. An unlimited admission pin is $12.

Hours are 10 a.m. - 5  p.m. daily, Thursday evenings until 7:30 p.m.
