CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - What is the Cincinnati Zoo asking for this Christmas? They are asking for the public's help on national #GivingTuesday.

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is joining the national #GivingTuesday movement to ask for donations to bring hippos back to Cincinnati. Giving Tuesday celebrates the spirit of generosity and giving back following three days of shopping: Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.

On Tuesday, the zoo is asking for help building hippo momentum by reaching their first goal of $25 thousand in 24 hours.

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden still needs to raise $7 million to complete the final phase of AFRICA - the Hippo exhibit, scheduled to open in summer 2015.

To help out with the zoo's cause, you can donate online or text HIPPO to 41444.

FOX19's Miranda Del Pozo will be live with more details on the FOX19 Morning News.
