The thing to do this weekend in Cincy

(FOX19) -

With several school closings and sleet/snow accumulations in the forecast on Friday, you might find yourself curled up on the couch watching re-runs of your favorite show.

Saturday looks a bit better, and good news for you, there are tons of fun events scheduled this weekend.

Regardless, drive safe!

*REDSFEST. More than 50 current and former players and coaches will be signing autographs, taking pictures with fans and hanging out for two days at the Duke Energy Convention Center. Scheduled to attend are Bruuuuuuuce, The Cuban Missile (#ChapmanSwagg), The Toddfather, The Face of the MLB, new manager Bryan Price and more. Proceeds benefit the Reds Community Fund. Purchase tickets at Reds.com/Redsfest.

*Lebanon Horse Drawn Carriage Parade and Festival. Cross this off of your bucket list. Dozens of antique carriages are pulled by beautiful Clydesdales, Percherons, miniature horses and more in two different parades on Saturday. They're decorated with lights, bows and bells and make a big circle around historic downtown Lebanon. It's magical. More info on Facebook.

*otr AGLOW. Over-the-Rhine is glowing this holiday season. And not just from awesomeness. It's literally glowing from a holiday lights competition. otrAGLOW began Saturday, Nov. 30 and ends Friday, Dec. 6. Storefronts and residential windows facing the street are decorated with lights, holiday cheer and an element reflecting the character of the neighborhood. With all this beauty, it's a nice time to stroll the area.

*Main Street Stroll and Shop and Caroling in the Quarter is Saturday. Basically while you shop and eat, roving carolers will be singing your holiday favorites throughout the neighborhood.

*Saengerfest. Did you know Cincinnati is the birthplace of an incredible German choir tradition? Yep. Several choirs are performing Saturday at historical venues in Over-the-Rhine (the center of Cincinnati's German heritage). The Friday night performances have been cancelled due to weather.

The history behind this event is cool (excerpt from event website):

"The North American Saengerbund was developed by German immigrants, and originally only consisted of choirs from Cincinnati, Louisville, and Indiana. The newly formed Saengerbund decided to carry on the German tradition of Saengerfests in the United States, and held the first-ever Saengerfest in Cincinnati in 1849."

Saengerfest continued to grow and returned to Cincinnati regularly until 1952.  It made a comeback last year, and event organizers are hoping to bring it back for good. Between the choirs, venues and holiday atmosphere, it's an awesome experience for your family. Ticket info and performance scheduled: http://www.christmassaengerfest.com/

*Christmas in the Village is all weekend in Waynesville, Ohio. There are shopping boutiques and cafes, 1300 luminaries, carriage rides and Santa!!! Watch this video on YouTube [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bskYurTs8zE] and get excited.

*Holiday Bazaar Marketplace is Saturday at The Southgate House Revival in Newport. Stop by for Christmas shopping, pictures with Santa (he's everywhere on Saturday), holiday drinks at happy hour prices. "Yule" be glad you did.

*The Ugly Christmas Sweater and Best Mustache Pub Crawl. Stay in Newport Saturday from 7-11 p.m. You can register at any of the participating locations: Shortnecks, Gangsters Dueling Piano Bar, The Crazy Fox Saloon, Birk's, Mokka and the Sunset Bar & Grill, and Bart's on York. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for registration and a wristband for pub crawl specials. The toys are donated to the Brighton Center's Wishing Tree for Newport kids.

*Pop-Up Ludlow, originally scheduled for Friday evening is now SATURDAY night from 6-8 p.m. Storefronts along the amazing Ludlow Avenue are transformed for the holidays by UC art and design students!

*Holiday Sale at Memorial Hall is Sunday from 12:30 to 4 p.m. The home of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra hosts the annual event selling a mix of ceramic art, pottery, 18k loom woven jewelry, wood-turned constructions, hand-painted silk clothing, batik art work and eggs, paintings, paper collage art and notecards. It's located next door to Music Hall.
