LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19) - Fire officials say a home in Lawrenceburg, Indiana is a total loss after a fire broke out early Tuesday morning.
The fire was reported just after 2 a.m. in the 300 block of Tower Road. According to authorities, Chad Purtee, one of the five occupants inside at the time, awoke to the sound of glass breaking. He found a heavy fire in the garage, and ran through the house to alert everyone else inside.
Upon arrival, fire crews found extremely heavy smoke conditions and flames through the roof of the attached garage area. Approximately 30 firefighters responded to the scene and remained there for up to four hours.
All occupants escaped the fire. One person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, and no other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
