1 dead, 3 injured in Greensburg, Ind. crash

GREENSBURG, IN (FOX19) - One person is dead and three others are injured following a two-vehicle crash in Greensburg, Ind.

The accident happened around 10:30 a.m on Thursday morning near on the State Route 3 bypass at Carver Street.

Investigation revealed that 55-year-old Margaret Folkman of Batesville was driving northbound on State Route 3 approaching Carver Street. Folkman was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban.

Officers say that a 2005 Pontiac Vibe, driven by 57-year-old Linda Phillips, was heading southbound approaching Carver Street. Her husband, 65-year-old Stephen Phillips, was the passenger in the vehicle.

Police say that Phillips made a left turn onto Carver Street, failing to yield to Folkman's vehicle. Folkman's vehicle stuck the passenger side.

Stephen Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple injuries. Linda Phillips was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with severe chest injuries.

Folkman and her passenger, 77-year-old Carol Firsich of Greensburg, were taken to Decatur County Hospital in a private vehicles for pain in lower extremities.

The investigation is ongoing.
