Snow plow and car collide in Westood

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A city snow plow and car were involved in an accident this evening in Westwood.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Daytona and Boudinot Ave. The dump truck with a nine-foot plow blade collided with the car, a silver Toyota Camry, and trapped the passenger.

The roof of the car had to be cut off in order to remove the passenger.

A 16-year-old male was driving the Camry and his passenger was a 15-year-old female. Both were taken to Children's Hospital with moderate injuries. The snow plow operator was not hurt.

Investigators are saying little about the circumstances surrounding the accident, but they believe the snow plow operator was at fault. All involved were wearing seatbelts and investigators say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.

The car involved is a total loss. The job of a snow plow driver is fraught with hazards and authorities are reminding the public to use caution this time of year around snow plows.
