Worldwide candle lighting remembers lost children

The 17th annual Worldwide Candle Lighting happened this evening in Spring Grove.

The event, organized by The Compassionate Friends Organization, intends to unite families and friends to remember children who have died at any age of any cause.

The lighting was a part of a global movement to create a virtual 24-hour wave of light moving across time zone to time zone. Having started in 1997, it is believed to be one of the largest mass candle lightings in the world.

Participants were invited to post a message for a lost child in the "Remembrance Book" which is available on the The Compassionate Friends website. Last year nearly 5300 messages were posted from dozens of countries worldwide.
