MOUNT WASHINGTON, KY (WAVE)- A Bullitt County teenager is behind bars for threatening to shoot and kill children at Old Mill Elementary School.
Police arrested Nicholas Bain, 18, on Saturday night. They said he threatened to kill his neighbor, who goes to Old Mill Elementary and other children at the school. Bain is charged with terroristic threatening.
Tim Wise has two small children at Old Mill Elementary, where a possible school shooting was thwarted. He said he was shocked to hear the news.
Wise said, "This is stuff that you read about in the paper and watch on TV, you never expect it to happen here."
Police said Bain threatened to go to the school with firearms. Mount Washington investigators said they found the information to be credible.
They released a statement saying "we want to reassure the community especially the parents of children attending old mill elementary it is safe for their children to return to school."
Bullitt County Schools Spokesman Eric Farris said officials believe the threat was for attention. He said they are taking every precaution and working with police to make certain it was an isolated threat.
Bain is being held in the Bullitt County Detention Center on 25,000 dollars full cash bond.
